Supported Independent Living (SIL)

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

MyCare Disability Support services provides 24/7 support in a shared or individual home for people with higher support needs. It’s not just about where you live — it’s about how you live. Our team supports participants with:

  • Personal care (e.g. hygiene, dressing)
  • Daily tasks (e.g. cooking, cleaning, laundry)
  • Medication management
  • Community access and social participation
  • Building independence and life skills

Our SIL services are personalised and flexible, ensuring that you get the right support while maintaining as much independence as possible.

Types of Accommodation

Supports We Offer

SIL through MyCare Disability Support services includes 24/7 support in either a shared home or your own space, depending on what suits you best. Our trained staff can assist with things like personal care, cooking, cleaning, taking medication, and joining in with community activities. We’re there to make everyday life safer, easier, and more manageable — while encouraging you to do as much as you can on your own.

Shared SIL Homes

Live in a warm, welcoming home with other participants who share similar needs and interests. Support staff are available around the clock to provide assistance and encourage community living, personal development, and shared responsibilities.

Individual Living Arrangements

Prefer to live alone? We can support you in your own home or in an individual tenancy, with tailored support levels depending on your specific daily needs and goals.

Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA)

If you need temporary housing while waiting for long-term arrangements (such as your SDA home to be ready), MTA provides a comfortable, supported place to stay for up to 90 days. It’s ideal for times of transition, recovery, or relocation.

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)

For participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs, SDA provides purpose-built homes designed for accessibility, safety, and comfort. MyCare works in collaboration with SDA providers to ensure you receive the right supports within the right environment.
